Fenella creates lovely characters whose happily ever afters seem well-deserved. Sofia Brotherton fits in well with Fenella's other heroines. She is feisty yet practical and smart enough to recognize that a bad marriage is worse than having to find a job. Unfortunately, her job brings her into the world of the Earl of Avon - who everyone wants dead.

The stakes are high and love is on the line for these two would-be lovers. As they fight their way toward victory, all the right tension plays on the page. This is lovely, escapist fiction at its best!
